This project gave artists from different disciplines an opportunity to learn from each other’s ways of working.
We chose to look at Manchester’s China Town and researched individually, coming together to create a collaborative piece.
I looked at the history of the area and brought to the group images of historical maps and buildings. We used the map and the image of the chinese take-away box to unify our work and created an installation.
My contribution was an avalanche of labels frozen in time. The labels were typeset with the names of some of the businesses, now long gone, that had pursued their trade in that area.
